We recognise that shareholders are increasingly looking for companies to take a broader view of their responsibilities, beyond just the dollars. Our social responsibility commitment is to actively engage with the communities in which we operate.
We identified surf lifesaving as an excellent charity to partner with, as we recognise the contribution that lifeguards provide in keeping us and our loved ones safe in the water each year.
We support four surf lifesaving clubs around New Zealand, providing each of these with the funds to purchase essential equipment for their clubs. We currently support:
- Red Beach Surf Lifesaving Club, Auckland
- Hot Water Beach Surf Lifesaving Club, Coromandel
- Lyall Bay Surf Lifesaving Club, Wellington
- Taylors Mistake Surf Lifesaving Club, Christchurch
Spirit of Adventure Trust
We are also proud to sponsor two teenagers, aged 16-18, to participate in the 10-day development voyage on the Spirit of New Zealand, through the Spirit of Adventure Trust, based in Auckland.
Over 1,000 Kiwi teenagers get the opportunity to participate in this potentially life changing voyage every year and out support goes to those who would otherwise not necessarily have the means to be able to fund it.
This development programme has been building generations of young Kiwis with confidence, resilience and self-esteem since 1972. Further information about the Trust can be found at www.spiritofadventure.org.nz.
Pillars New Zealand assists the children of parents who are in prison with a variety of programmes including mentoring, programmes within prison and general assistance to families and whanau. On any given day more than 20,000 children are affected by having a parent in prison. Without the right support these children are over nine times more likely than other kiwi kids to end up in prison as adults.
Children of prisoners are among some of the most vulnerable children in our community and Argosy is extremely happy to have partnered with Pillars and looks forward to supporting this very worthy organisation.
Staff Volunteer Days
Our staff are encouraged – and paid - to spend one day per year doing voluntary community work for a charity of their choice.
We acknowledge that our activities can have an impact on the natural environment and we are committed to managing and reducing the consequences of these activities. We pay attention to these environmental issues and encourage environmentally responsible behaviour from our staff, our partners and our tenants. We strive to improve the environmental performance of our properties.
We understand that the way in which we engage with, and impact on, our stakeholders is critical to the continued sustainable success of our business and firmly believe that a focus on sustainability can yield better company performance.
We are a member of the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGCB), a not for-profit industry organisation dedicated to accelerating the development and adoption of market based green building practices.

We have an Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Framework that underpins our aspirational environmental goals.
- We will strive to obtain independent energy efficiency rating on all of our office buildings by 2022.
- We will collect energy consumption data (electricity, water and gas) on all our buildings.
- We will develop a Waste Management Plan which will be incorporated into all major projects
