Peter Baker Transport (PBT) is a New Zealand-based company specialising in freight, courier, and logistics services. They offer a wide range of express courier and freight solutions across the country.  PBT has been an Argosy tenant for more than ten years. 

Bell Ave is PBT’s Head Office and the location for its largest warehouse freight distribution centre in New Zealand. The property incorporates Head Office operations along with transport, courier and logistics, serving their network and customers nation-wide.

Requirements and recommendations
Due to their rapid growth and expansion, PBT needed additional space to accommodate an expanding business and to enhance the work environment for their team.  At the same time, they were committed to implementing a number of sustainable initiatives that drove efficiency, reduced operating costs and were also good for the environment.

As a result of working through their detailed requirements, we proposed a refurbishment of the building, and the building services, to create a new space that targeted a minimum 4 Green Star rated building.

Outcomes

PBT have experienced a number of quick gains in the warehouse following the redevelopment including transitioning from diesel to electric forklifts, introducing a smart lighting system and an overall feel that is cleaner and healthier thanks to a new and improved HVAC system. 

The new office open plan office fitout has delivered better formal and informal meeting spaces, leading to improved staff communications across key business units and an overall better workplace environment for all staff.

This project was delivered using a collaborative approach, with Argosy’s asset management and development teams working in tandem with PBT to ensure the refurbishment project outcomes met the needs of both parties.
